A special highlight in Northern Germany is the famous Wadden Sea.
The Wadden Sea that stretches along the Dutch, German and Danish coasts has the largest area of tidal flats in the world.
A large area of the Wadden Sea on the northern coast, with its offshore islands, remains just as it was thousands of years ago. The German federal states of Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and Lower Saxony have made their stretches of Wadden Sea national parks.
